Abstract :
The increase in the use of COTS components in both, public and private companies has brought several new challenges to the software engineering community. Although several of them have been deeply addressed in the last few years, others have been given little attention. In this paper, we address two important problems that multidisciplinary teams, responsible for the selection and/or adoption of COTS components or COTS-based systems must address at some point in the process; the organizational induction of new-coming or external staff (consultants, COTS components suppliers, system integrators, etc.), and the alignment of the goals that different participants in the process may have i* modeling techniques are used to address these problems in the context of an small telecommunications company.
