Abstract
Several recent studies mainly through simulation have been done to show the fractal behavior of traffic in ATM networks and its adverse effects over ATM switches. In this paper our goal is to study the effects of Ethernet LAN traffic over a frame-relay protocol in terms of the performance of the ATM switches. We have found that the Ethernet LAN traffic encapsulated under the frame-relay protocol does not cause impacts on a ATM input buffer at all
