Abstract
Elemental engineering analysis based on Ohm´s law would indicate that a transient voltage-suppressing device connected with less impedance to ground would be a better protective device than a similar device connected with greater impedance to ground. Through a series of simple experiments, a quantification of the difference is provided when comparing a transient voltage surge suppressor integrally mounted into distribution equipment versus transient voltage surge suppression devices mounted via short cable lengths. This paper describes the test methods and results achieved
