Abstract
The paper reports on the development of the RS-2000 propagation simulator for ultra-wideband (UWB) systems. The RS-2000 visualizes the propagation characteristics of UWB signals for user arranged environments. The propagation characteristics include coverage area and interference with other wireless systems, both of which are considered to be important issues for regulatory activities and practical applications of UWB technology. We have invented a "band-divided ray tracing method" to achieve highly accurate broadband channel estimation. We have also conducted UWB transmission experiments to evaluate the estimation accuracy of the RS-2000 and confirmed that this simulator has a low estimation error of less than 3 dB in received signal power.
