  • Abstract
The effects of structure parameters of spiral groove on the dynamic behaviors of micro spiral-grooved thrust bearing are studied. Both the lubricant analysis and the kinetic analysis are arranged into a single state space which makes coupling the two analyses straightforward. The optimum structure parameter values of the bearing system are explored and presented in terms of maximum load carrying capacity in the steady-state, and then the dynamic behavior of the gas spiral groove thrust bearing - rotor system is investigated with those optimum structure parameter values in different initial perturbation. The results show that the dynamic stability and load capacity impose contradictive requirements on the groove pattern of the micro thrust bearing.
