  • Abstract
Recent progress in IC technology has made it possible to produce CMOS ICs that operate in the Gb/s range and to integrate 3R receiver functions in a 2.4 Gb/s Si bipolar IC on a single chip. Such technology can be applied to small, low cost, low power-consumption, Gb/s range optical transmission equipment to be used in next-generation broadband optical networks for multimedia services.
