Abstract
Multiwavelength optical networking activity in the United States has benefited from advancing needs for bandwidth and flexibility. Several programs have been sponsored in part by the Defence Advanced Projects Agency (DARPA) with growing interest and participation from network service providers and vendors. This talk will be an overview of several of these programs, including earlier programs such as the ONTC and newer programs such as the MONET and NTONC projects.
