Abstract :
This paper presents a design of aperture coupled microstrip antenna integrated with EBG. The proposed design was based on structure of 2 by 2 planar array with aperture coupled feeding technique. Mushroom-like EBG were integrated onto the antenna to investigate its effect to the antenna. Optimization on number of EBG patches and the spacing gap distance between EBG patches were carried out. The antenna is designed to operate at 5.8GHz of frequency and simulated in CST Microwave Studio. The optimization and simulated results were presented.
