  • Abstract
We proposed a LD direct-modulation method by introducing a commercially available logic IC for a simple and low-cost LD transmitter. By applying this modulation scheme, we developed a 2.5 cc, 1.25 Gb/s optical link for POF and confirmed stable error-free operation up to 1.25 Gb/s for 100-m transmissions of GI H-PCF. Experimental results show that our proposed scheme and fabricated optical link for POF can become a key technology in high-speed and short distance (less than 100-m) transmissions for optical interconnection, desktop LAN, and in-home network.
