Abstract :
We developed a new optical time domain reflectometry (OTDR) method for measuring both strain and optical loss distribution along optical fibers by unifying Brillouin OTDR and coherent OTDR. The new OTDR is promising not only for low cost optical network maintenance but also for large building diagnostics.
