Abstract
In this paper four systematic methods are described for the active tuning of crystal oscillators. The four methods are compared with respect to power consumption and maximum attainable carrier-to-noise ratio. It is concluded that the parallel resonance mode has to be preferred for active on-chip crystal tuning
