Abstract
Measurement of voltages in the range of several kilo Volt up to 40 kiloVolt peak is a critical task if the measurement has to cover also EMC frequencies up to several tens of kiloHertz and the data acquisition system is remote to the position of measuring. A commercial low frequency high voltage probe is used for handling up to 40.000 Vpeak and is followed by a measurement amplifier and frequency response correction network. The signal obtained can be directly connected as voltage output to an oscilloscope. For continuous data acquisition, the signal in the measurement amplifier is converted into a current loop signal which can travel over 100 m in order to reach a national instruments based commercial data acquisition system capable of handling, more than 100 Gigabyte of data at 16 channels.
