  • Abstract
The transversal-flux-machine (TFM) is a completely different design if compared to normal machines. Developed for generally low speed and high torque, e.g. driving vehicles without gear, the transvesal-flux-machine is a high-pole machine with simplified stator winding but on the other hand with an extremely complicated magnetic design. This causes many mechanical problems in the set up of such a machine. The few industrially manufactured models are of radial design like standard electrical machines. This paper investigates the possibilities and problems of an axial prototype of a transversal-flux-machine, considering a low power prototype for a variable speed drive.
