Abstract :
In this paper we address the current development of an IEEE 802.11b WLAN surveillance system that combines the use of COTS WiFi devices with a custom antenna system capable of electronically steering a high gain beam and performing real-time mobile station location, interference mitigation and physical layer signal formation. This application of smart antenna technology requires the system to locate arbitrary (typically hostile) WLAN users and disassociate them from the network.
