Abstract :
Since an ultra wideband (UWB) communication system uses an ultra wideband receiving antenna, the fast transient fields radiated by electrostatic discharge (ESD) near the antenna may cause severe malfunction in the receiving circuit. On the other hand, the fast electromagnetic pulses radiated by a UWB transmission antenna may have an undesired effect on ambient electronic circuits. Therefore, it is important to measure such fast transient or pulsive fields. In order to measure the fast electromagnetic fields, a technique for reconstructing an electromagnetic waveform using the complex antenna factor (CAF) has been developed. However, the waveforms are measured in the vicinity of the radiating source, whereas the CAF is originally defined assuming the plane wave incidence. It is necessary to examine the reconstruction technique using the CAF in the near-field measurements.
