Abstract :
This paper discusses the practical implications of realizing synthetic instrument based systems from initial specification including amplitude and frequency envelope requirements; to impedance and signal connection issues; legacy TPS compatibility; accuracy, resolution, and functionality considerations; and system integration issues by examining work in progress. The lessons learned on this effort provide a template for future synthetic instrumentation efforts through practical examples of the kind of design, development, implementation, and integration issues that must be addressed to implement a practical system.
