Abstract :
This paper studies the self positioning system using the Ultra wide Band combined to spread spectrum techniques for the transport application. This technique can be used in masked environments for example tunnel case. Moreover, associated to other positioning technique like GPS or GNSS, UWB can provide a continuous localization with seamless. The UWB technique allows a high precision ranging due to its fine resolution to resolve multipath fading and the presence of lower frequencies in the baseband to penetrate walls. In addition, the Spread spectrum technique permits to have a specific code for each base station with a good orthogonal propriety. In order to evaluate the proposed system, the standard deviation error is calculated for two localisation techniques TDOA and TOA and two channel propagation. These simulations show that TDOA technique associate to Gold code permits to have high precision. These simulations are validated by the tests. These tests are realised by the prototype implemented using FPGA components.
