Abstract :
The CASS (Consolidate Automated Support System) is a standard military automatic test platform. Designed in the 1980´s and fielded in the early 1990´s, the Block I version of the bench depends on a VAX 3900 from the former Digital Equipment Corporation for its computing power. Software is available to emulate the VAX 3900 on a Windows PC. With the potential for significant performance enhancements due to faster run times, Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center implemented an effort to explore the possibility of replacing the VAX with a PC running Software Resources International´s (SRI) Charon-VAX emulation software. This paper details the result of that effort.
