Abstract :
This paper proposes an architecture for vehicular communications, providing an integrated solution, considering the benefit of both safety (e.g., accident warning) and comfort (e.g., Internet access) applications. Firstly, we define overall architecture which can be classified in cross-layer category. Then we develop some blocks of the architecture and introduce some challenges in designing each layer. Our protocol architecture provides a clear modular structure with flexibility for cross-layer protocol interactions whilst not violating legacy-layer structure
