Abstract
When used in conjunction with ultrasound phased-array applicators, complex pressure measurements using miniature needle hydrophone arrays will allow optimal focusing through tissue inhomogeneities (aberration correction) and compensation for patient movement in real time. Experimental results using needle hydrophone measurements in a water tank with thick fatty tissue aberrater are presented to provide a proof of concept. The fabrication of silicon-based needle hydrophone arrays which will be used to provide acoustic feedback during hyperthermia treatments has been initiated
