Abstract :
A Model for B-mode image formation with a nondiffracting beam (NDB) transducer is presented. This model characterizes the system in terms of its line spread function (LSF). The authors also investigate higher-resolution improvement by employing a restoration process. The analysis of image formation model reveals that the LSF can be decomposed in two 1-D terms. The LSF is generally position-variant, however, under some reasonable conditions, it may be approximated by a position-invariant function. Based on the approximate form, the authors have designed two 1-D restoration filters. Use of two 1-D restoration filters instead of one 2-D filter saves processing time and memory. Results based on simulated B-mode images are presented
