Abstract :
The half-mode corrugated substrate integrated waveguide (HMCSIW) uses an array of quarter-wave stubs in place of vias to artificially create an electric wall. This structure supports the TE0.5,0 mode encountered in the half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW). The top conductor of the structure is isolated from ground at dc permitting integration of active devices at the open edge. An eigenvalue formulation was used to study the mode behavior of the HMCSIW. Simulations and experimental results for an X-band HMCSIW were used to validate calculations. Unlike the HMSIW, a spurious mode restricts monomode operation to one octave.
