Abstract :
High precision dynamic comparator is of key importance to some mixed signal circuits like SAR A/D converter. By using a dynamic positive feedback latch, a CMOS comparator has been proposed. Simulation proved that its LSB (least significant bit) is 0.015mV, the dynamic input range covers near the whole supply voltage and the power dissipation is 6.28mW. It has been applied to a new SAR CMOS A/D converter with high resolution of 14-bit and operating frequency of 3.6MHz. Its reliability and applicability were proven by corner simulation.
