Abstract :
A review is given of recent works on electron and light emission from dispersed (island) thin films excited by the conduction current and infrared laser irradiation. The results are interpreted in terms of generation of hot electrons in nanosized particles which is possible because of strong reduction of electron-phonon coupling in such particles
