Abstract
Driving aid is an important emerging radar application. Among associated technological issues, detecting and tracking potential obstacles (cars, pedestrians, static objects ...) is of key interest. In this context, we propose an original tracking method, based on particle filtering, where the observation of the state vector is the cross-ambiguity function of the backscattered signal. Simulations for various waveforms demonstrate the improvement brought compared to the conventional approach, in which a detection step precedes the tracking.
