  • Abstract
A novel type of resonator using magnetostatic forward volume waves (MSFVWs) with an annual-ring slot is presented, where the annual-ring slot formed on an yttrium iron garnet (YIG) film by a photolithography technique plays a role in confining the energy of magnetostatic waves. The magnetostatic waves are excited through a slot transmission line fabricated at the same photolithography stage. The resonator is tunable from 2 to 4 GHz according as the variation of the DC bias magnetic field from 2300 to 3200 Oe and shows a high Q of 700 to 2000 with insertion loss of 9 to 30 dB for the dominant mode. An analysis based on a magnetic wall model is provided to give a reasonable explanation to the observed phenomena
