Abstract :
Methods from information theory can be used in genomic analysis to provide a more meaningful insight into the genetic process. Given a sequence of amino acids, we compute the values of several new entropic measures defined for ergodic sources with memory. In comparison with those obtained in the case of random, computer generated sequences, we can distinguish protein coding regions from non-coding ones.
