Abstract
A new type of chromatographic device utilizing the surface acoustic wave (SAW) interferometer crystal as a desorption sensor is examined. The resulting desorption chromatogram enhances the specificity of the SAW chromatography system by determining the desorption or evaporation rates of the absorbed vapors. Temperature programmed desorption is used to determine the activation energy associated with individual vapor series and provides a useful tool in the study of surface binding
