Abstract :
In this paper, we demonstrate via simulation that the linear-complex LAS detectors can amazingly achieve the bit error rate of the NP-hard optimum global maximum likelihood (GML) multiuser detector in large random spreading CDMA systems where the number of users is over a thousand and the number of users per degree is less than 0.9. Moreover, the LAS detectors suggestively attain the optimum asymptotic multiuser efficiency, which only the NP-hard GML detector has been known to attain
