Abstract :
Unique nonlinear behaviors are observed in quartz resonators depending on the oscillation mode. The physical origin of these different nonlinear behaviors is found in the difference of dominant higher-order elastic constants. Acoustic bistability and dynamical response of this bifurcation phenomenon are investigated with the aid of numerical simulations. The narrowing of the resonance width in X-cut resonators is also simulated numerically. The present investigations suggest new acoustic switching devices under intense excitations
