Abstract :
Considering the growth of AC motor applications and the complexity of the algorithms used for their control, a new multiprocessor architecture has been designed specially for this task. This approach is justified by the fact that the motor control algorithms can by divided into several tasks able to be executed in parallel. In this paper, the separation of a motor control algorithm into three main processes that can be executed in a “pipeline” structure is presented. A dedicated one-chip integrated multiprocessor architecture able to execute this algorithm in an efficient way, and containing I/O dedicated to motor control, is presented. The multiprocessor approach offers the possibility of having a large computing power in a compact and low cost structure, each processor being very small
