Abstract
A novel architecture dedicated to perform motion estimation on MPEG3 CCIR 601 sequences is presented. The proposed MIMD architecture exposes software programmability at different levels allowing the user to define his/her own searching strategy and combine multiple chips in a master/slave configuration to meet the required processing power. A first implementation of this architecture tailored to perform a predictive Genetic Search Motion Estimation is reported
