Abstract
Optical reflection tolerance is one of the key issues in optical subcarrier-multiplexed (SCM) RF video distribution systems. The broadening of the optical spectral width is a known technique to effectively mitigate optical reflection-induced deterioration. In this paper, we experimentally investigate the effectiveness of a laser current dithering technique, which induces the frequency chirp of an optical signal, and confirm that the reflection tolerance of optical RF video signal transmission can be enhanced.
