Abstract :
The ITU has set the switchover deadline on 17 June 2015 with an extension of five years. Thanks to the digitization of television, the number of channels, programs and features offered, allowing viewers to access television from anywhere (smart mobile phone, mobile television and television in cars) and also the number of viewers, and the time to spend watching television is expected to drastically increase, as television has become a leisure instrument and a form of entertainment showing its particularity of information source. Africa is the world´s second-largest and second-most-populous continent with about 30.2 million km2 (11.7 million square miles) including adjacent islands for 1.0 billion people (1,032,532,974 as of 2011), what is its potential. Also with the transition from analogue to digital, that is mandatory as a world global trend, creating more opportunities for Potential Digital Television Operators (PDTO), to expand their business or the conquer this huge market. This paper is referring to the event of the Switchover taking place in Africa (Arena) where World digital television industry players (Gladiators) are fighting with latest and strategic technologies and business plan to replica the Africa Mobile Phone Success (AMPS), then benefit from the huge potential of Africa, which is in line with its ambitious project to promote the implementation of digital broadcasting and access to information and communications technologies.
