Abstract
The Yb3+ doped laser glass composed of SiO2-Li2O-Na2O-K2O-MgO-Al2O3-Yb2O3 were studied experimentally using the absorption and fluorescence spectrum. And the various spectral parameters of samples were calculated by the reciprocity method, including the absorption cross section, stimulated emission cross-section and fluorescence life time. The result shows that the alkali metal oxides possess different influence on the spectrum and laser parameters of the laser glass. Furthermore, Yb3+ doped lithium silicate glass has the larger absorption and emission cross-section and the lower fluorescence lifetime. The kind of glass can inhibit concentration quenching and improve laser performance, which is a high performance laser material for the application of photonic crystal fibre laser.
