Abstract
When designing systems with optical interconnects, the signal integrity of the combined hybrid electro-optical systems is an important issue. Using IBIS is an efficient way to analyze the signal integrity of electronic systems. To develop an IBIS-like specification for optical interconnects, it is necessary to identify the key parameters which describe the dynamic behavior of lasers. An analytical approximation of the solution of the laser rate-equations yields such parameters, which can be tabulated and share many of the advantages of IBIS for electronic interconnects
