Abstract :
This paper describes the criteria which allow the Pb-acid battery system designer or the user to choose a battery suitable for particular applications. The authors must differentiate the batteries for renewable energy sources and identify what makes them different from existing starter, traction and standby batteries. One must also be aware of the selection criteria such as storage conditions, climatic, environment and operating endurance (cycling, overcharge, water consumption, maintenance). A discussion regarding the conditions of commissioning, recharging and charging voltage control as well as the regulations to be followed for control onsite completes this paper
