Abstract
This paper presents a hardware platform designed to test and validate dynamic battery models for a variety of batteries. The operation of the platform is demonstrated for a valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) battery. Arbitrary current profiles can be applied to the battery allowing both charge and discharge. Additionally the platform is capable of performing tests autonomously over extended periods of time. This allows a wide range of testing capabilities including discharge, model derivation, and validation tests.
