Abstract :
Networked games are newly emerging and increasing applications in the Internet community. Multiplayer online game (MOG) is one of such applications that can accommodate many users simultaneously. To realize MOGs in a distributed peer-to-peer environment, we propose a novel topology construction scheme that maps each player´s coordinate in the real-world network to the coordinate in a virtual plane. The main features of our scheme are two-stage placement of a node: rough estimation and refinement. We also propose a key idea of super nodes in order to achieve scalability and efficiency. This paper describes the system design of our scheme.
