At present, due to the influence of examination-oriented education, traditional College English teaching is basically grammar and knowledge centered, and the associative meanings of language in social and cultural perspectives are almost ignored. When students communicate with others in English, they just copy the customs of their own culture, which leads to the failure of cross-cultural communication. According to the defects of culture teaching in college English teaching and the “interlanguage” and “fossilization” of the cognitive process of second language acquisition, this paper analyses the discrepancy of value orientation of Chinese and western philosophy and the causes of unsatisfactory culture teaching, it also puts forward some strategies of culture teaching based on the cognitive perspective.
