Abstract
Due to the continuously increasing market demands for cloud platform and services, Cloud providers face the challenges of managing these fast growing large-scale systems accordingly and realizing the Cloud characteristics sustainably including the measurement of these characteristics. IT standards of operation measurement have not yet advanced to the Cloud paradigms. This paper discuss quality in Cloud characteristics and introduces advanced key performance indicators based on the classical IT Infrastructure Library considering specific characteristics such as global distribution and multiple redundancies. In a dedicated case study this measurement approach is validated in a real, large-scale private Cloud and a large scale traditional system to outline significant differences.
