Abstract
The development of advanced parking assistance system for assisting the driver to accomplish the parking task is described in this paper. A real-time high accuracy absolute position sensing that may be used not only for parking assistance system was used as the sensing system. The main issues in implementing the assistance system are the position sensing and the human guidance through human interface. The sensor suite selection filtering scheme, guidance scheme, human interface scheme development process are described. The system prototype and experimental results are also presented
