    In this paper, rolling bearing fault is diagnosed by using of expert system. Failure phenomenon and causes of the relevant faults are entered into the knowledge base, which have been gotten from the experienced maintenance staff by seeing, hearing, touching and measuring. Meantime, the knowledge base and inference engine have been written basing on the expert system which only provides the text environment. But it have unfriendly human-computer interface and lacks the ability to develop human-computer interface. VC++ is adopted and make up the deficiency by CLIPS dynamic linking to the VC++. The combination of software can scheme out efficient operation and friendly human-computer interaction expert system. Rolling element bearing fault can be fast find out and exclude, the efficiency of the expert system is greatly enhanced.
