Abstract
The magnetic field fluctuations in the power grid will produce geomagnetic induced currents (GIC) when magnetic storm occurs. Monitoring and analysis of the GIC is an important new task. At present, although the domestic GIC monitoring devices can monitor GIC, they are unfavorable for installation for their large size and weight. This paper proposes a GIC monitoring model which is based on embedded system. The size of the monitoring device with high movability is smaller, which could effectively reduce the cost of installation and maintenance. Furthermore, the VxWorks platform, compared to other development platforms, which are used to develop this system, can improve real-time performance and reliability.
