Abstract
In this paper a methodology is presented which allows asset managers to optimize maintenance of MV/LV substations by simultaneously sustaining high reliability. It allows case-specific optimization for any given MV/LV substation on the basis of inspection results. By evaluating the long-term impact of different maintenance activities it is possible to optimize the maintenance schedule (both tasks planning and time schedule). In general, the methodology can assist in objectifying decision making for upcoming maintenance investments.
