Abstract
Data transfers and storage are crucial cost factors in multimedia systems. Systematic methodologies are needed to obtain dramatic reductions in terms of power, area and cycle count. The main contribution of this paper is the demonstration of the applicability, effectiveness and major power cost reduction of our data transfer and storage exploration methodology (called ATOMIUM) on the most critical part of the MPEG-4 video encoder standard
