Abstract :
In the present study, the thermal conductivity of substitute lumber molded from rags with PP fibers as a binder material was measured. The substitute lumber was constituted of various fibers. The effects of fiber combinations and orientations on the thermal conductivity of substitute lumber were investigated. From the experimental results, the relationship between thermal conductivity and each factor was cleared. The thermal conductivity of substitute lumber molded here is largely dependent on PP content, and melted PP acts on the increase in thermal conductivity for vertical fibre orientation and acts on the decrease in thermal conductivity for parallel fibre orientation against the heat current.
