Abstract :
This paper describes a program used to encourage creativity in the technical community. A small portion of research and development funding is used for creative and innovative employee-initiated projects. The process involves a broad cross-section of the technical community in the identification, selection and support of innovative research ideas. It is designed to encourage employees to bring new product and process ideas forward and compete for funding. Selected researchers are given a nurturing environment to pursue a technical area of personal interest, a mini-fellowship
