Abstract
This paper describes a process to automatically restore DC power to transport and electronic switching system (ESS) equipment without manual intervention, after an extended battery discharge below the minimum operating voltage of the equipment. Manual intervention, in terms of this process, includes initialization of software and recharging of system capacitance. High level design criteria for restoration of the telecom system to the call processing or fully operational state are discussed
