Abstract
Side-scan sonar traditionally has used a graphic paper recording system for the display and annotation of the data. A novel side-scan system specifically designed to use color video as the primary data display is described. Several design considerations and tradeoffs are discussed, some of which are unique to a system using a video display. A parametric subbottom profiler and towfish orientation sensors are also integrated into the system
